Springcoil are proud to be supporting our Managing Director, Carl Martin (pictured front right), in his quest to cycle 100 miles in 1 day to raise money for The Sheffield Royal Society For The Blind (SRSB).
On Saturday 14th September 2019 Carl, along with his friends, will set off on their journey from Aston in Sheffield to Hornsea on the Yorkshire Coast. Their journey, which will no doubt involve a couple of stop off’s at carefully selected country pubs, will clock up 105 miles in total! They will stay in Hornsea for the evening and complete their 77 mile journey home the following day.
The Sheffield Royal Society For The Blind is a charity that is close to Carl’s heart. His wife Hayley suffers from Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), an eye condition that means that she will lose her sight gradually over time. Carl explained “The SRSB has provided Hayley with so much support and hope over the years and we wanted to give something back. It will be a gruelling couple of days but we’ve been training every Thursday and Sunday and have been pushing the distance with lots of laughs, injuries, punctures and unexpected detours, so we’re ready for the challenge. No doubt the Springcoil team will be laughing at me hobbling about the factory next week but it’s all for a good cause!”
